This is one of the most difficult blogs I have had to write thus far because there are so many great spots in Tobermory! The truth is, all of Tobermory is a hidden gem of Ontario where locals and tourists from all over enjoy!
1. Little Cove Beach
Just off of highway 6, follow Little Cove Road until you reach the small parking lot. This is a great getaway for tourists looking to have a quiet picnic and a place to swim. For extreme adventurers, try and go for a hike on the Bruce Trail from Little Cove Beach to the Grotto! If most areas in Tobermory are too packed with tourists, this is the place to relax and unwind from the busy tourist season.
2. Halfway Log Dump
The Grotto attracts most tourists, however there is another beautiful spot nearby that will take your breath away. The Halfway Log Dump has a pretty hiking trail that leads you to the crystal clear aqua blue shoreline! In addition to the beautiful scenery, the natural rock landscape to the left of the trail end is amazing to admire! Be sure to explore that area while you visit. Definitely a must stop for photographers.
3. Checkout the natural beauty at Singing Sands Beach
About 10 minutes outside of Tobermory on Dorcas Bay Road off of Highway 6, is a popular beach spot for anyone looking to relax and enjoy the outdoors! This is the perfect beach day destination, with amazing restroom and changing facilities, beautiful boardwalk and an expansive low tide beach. Pack up your swimming gear, pack up the water game equipment for fun activities and bring your family or group of friends!
4. Evening walk at Sunset Park
Follow Cape Hurd Road and turn right onto Myles Drive and the hidden public access will be on your left. There are plenty of good sunset points in Tobermory, but how about having the space for an evening walk and catching a wide view of the sunset? Sunset Park literally lives up to its name, so be sure to check out this hidden gem!
5. Have a delicious meal at the Snack Shack
If you’re tired of the long lineups and high traffic at all the main restaurants in Tobermory right across the road from the Blue Heron Cruises Centre is the Snack Shack. They sell most fast food favourites and even ice cream! The place also hosts outdoor eating and washroom facilities for all customers. This place is a bit hidden from the road and makes a great place for a hidden gem in Tobermory!
6. The adventure (Mountain) trail within the walk-on Flowerpot Island Tour
As stated in my (10 Activities You Must Do In Tobermory blog), taking the walk-on option for the Flowerpot Island Cruise is a must! To enhance the experience and make it more adventurous, challenge yourself to the adventure trail on Flowerpot Island before your return boat arrives! Not many are up for the challenge and there are spots many tourists do not see. Explore this hidden gem for yourself!
