Toronto’s most iconic landmark is the CN Tower which is located in the heart of downtown Toronto. There are many options to choose from to tour the tower. All options have one common theme, the breathtaking view as you ascend the 553.33 metres (1,815.5 Feet) tall tower. From fine dining in the “360 Restaurant” to the “Brave the Edgewalk” to the “Skypod” which is the highest observation platform on the giant tower, I am sure you will find the attraction that suits you the best!
Let’s take a look at some extraordinary details about each of the main levels of the CN Tower (From lowest to highest).
The gift shop offers a wide range of souvenirs to take home, from Indigenous artists to local designers. Be sure to choose something to remind you of this amazing experience! In addition to the gift shop, there is a coffee shop called Le Cafe and if the kids are excited to play around, they can burn off all their energy at the KidZone!
Elevators/Stairs
The CN Tower offers people the option to walk up the exhausting 1,776 steps if they choose to do so. The CN Tower staircase is also the center for a major challenge…but also for a good cause! The “WWF CN Tower Climb For Nature” hosts the annual challenge every April and in 2023 the event had nearly 5,000 supporters and an incredible $1.4 Million was raised to help protect and restore wildlife and fight climate change!
The high speed elevator travels at a remarkable speed of 22 km per hour (15 miles per hour) which allows you to reach the Main Observation Area in just under 1 minute! The elevator provides people with fantastic views on one side of the elevator, but the glass panel on the floor shows people how fast you are ascending to the top!
Technically the Main Observation Area is a separate level from the Glass Floor, however it is only one small staircase away. If you want a great viewing experience without any added elements/twists to the view, then walking around the Main Observation Area is for you. If you are looking for a unique experience, then head down the stairs and look at the long drop on the Glass Floor level! If you are afraid of heights, then you may want to steer away from here or not stand directly on top of the glass panel.
Looking for lunch or dinner? There is actually a restaurant in the CN Tower!! The 360 Restaurant cooks up a delicious 3-course meal from an expansive menu. For what the 360 Restaurant has to offer, click here! Please note: Guests must spend $75 on food per person and a minimum $40 on children ages 4 to 12. 360 guests will not have to worry about purchasing a separate admission ticket to get in, however, it is highly recommended you reserve a table in advance before dining. The unpredictable experience about dining here is that the floor slowly rotates “360 degrees” around the CN Tower which concludes one full rotation every 72 minutes! This gives you incredible views of downtown Toronto, airplanes landing and taking off from Billy Bishop Airport and the surrounding Greater Toronto Area (GTA) suburbs. This is an unforgettable place to dine regardless of the occasion; date night with your partner, a staff retreat, or a night out with friends and family!
Any extremists out there? This is definitely something you need to check off your daredevil bucket list! This is not for the faint of heart or people who are afraid of heights! Nevertheless, this is a unique experience and the Edgewalk level has special reservations such as student graduation trips, birthdays, reunions, any type of celebration and can offer some team building activities, as well!
Skypod
Want the highest view on the CN Tower? 33 Stories higher than the Main Observation area sits the Skypod! On a clear day, the incredible view allows you to spot Niagara Falls all the way from the Skypod! It is said that the CN Tower sways about half a metre (1.5 feet) and it can be felt when standing in the Skypod. Still… not for the faint of heart, but at least you are not outside in the open doing the edgewalk!
Cool Fact: The CN Tower is struck by lightning on an average 75 times a year at the antenna tip!
The CN Tower has breathtaking views both on the tower and the surrounding areas. Many photographers have been able to capture fantastic pictures such as the exact moment lightning strikes the tip of the tower and the full moon behind the tower! Throughout the year, the CN Tower, at night time, is lit up with a certain colour relating to major Canadian cultural events, and special causes. Keep an eye out for this beautiful display!
